REVIEW OF THE BOOK
Ruskin Bond has been writing for over 60 years and now has over 120 titles in prints – novels, collection of short stories, poetry, essays and books for children. His first novel was ‘The Room on the Roof ’.
There are 22 chapters in this book. These 22 are written by different authors. School days takes a peek into the lives of school children down the ages. Sometimes tragic, humorous, the anthology captures every mood and sentiment of the most splendid phase of one’s life. There are 2 separate version of this book
The first chapter is ‘Miss Babcock’s big toe ‘written by Ruskin bond himself. It describes the experience of the author in visiting a hospital with only a deaf nurse. The next is ‘Tom sawyer’ written by Mark twain. There are other stories too. And that of Charles Dickens. As every reader knows, Charles Dickens’ David crop field, apart from been his best if not most popular novel, his largely the story of the authors own boyhood .David was the first sent to a bad school where he and the other boys were ill use. But the age of 12 he was though the knavery of his guardian put to work in a factory; whence he escaped –tramping from London to Dover where he found happiness with a kind aunt who adopted him. She sent him to the school described here, which the present editor believes to be kings school, Canter bury .David boards with Mr. Wick field , the aunt’s solicitor and friend, whose clerk is the repulsive Uriah Heep.this touching story illustrates the great writer’s ability
I like this story book very much because of the funny things in school.
